I glad theres groups out here that are being a help in many things. I am Army Veteran (1995-2003), I was stop-lossed to go to the Iraq conflict. I am glad did my part of histroy, but really Veterans dont get many thanks or even a smile and handshake. Some rather spit in your face or give you dirty looks, I tell them you wernt fit the unform then you have no right to say what is right or wrong without servring. I recently becoame homeless and went to local VA Campus got help from the Homeless Veteran Rep. they sent me to VoA, in which they had program with VA to help with many things such as life skills, anger mangment, mind tips, contive behavorial thearpy class, transportation to VA and work on getting Hud-Vash's. In which I got now. But needs more funding to get other stuff what ever may be.

It counts for a lot. I'm a vaeertn who served in peacetime (1980-83) and never left the United States. I never compare my service to those who have gone in harm's way, or even truly prepared for it. Still, it rankles when I read people of privilege going on about how we should honor vaeertns, what important work they do, how difficult the circumstances are, when these people have never been closer to the military than driving past a recruiting station. For you to even consider the idea that this might not reflect well on you shows that you get it. Thanks.

Everyone
As the Founder of VOIEF I had to share this story with you. This week I went to our P.O. Box and found a letter we received with three donation checks enclosed. The letter reads -

"Dear VOIEF,

Each year my son Thomas chooses a charity to collect donations on his birthday. He chose VOIEF because he is interested in the military and so proud of our veterans. The work you do to help veterans and his family is impressive and is a good message for 10 & 13yr old boy's. Please except our donation."

Thomas and his friend did a GREAT job in raising money along with being so thoughtful.

Thomas, it is wonderful people like yourself who are a part of keeping our military and veterans on the right path!

GREAT JOB and Happy Birthday!!!
